Overview

Short for HyperText Transfer Protocol, the underlying protocol used by the World Wide Web. HTTP defines how messages are formatted and transmitted, and what actions Web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands.

Computer screenThe communications protocol is used to connect to Web servers on the Internet or on a local network (intranet).
HTTP is a "stateless" request/response system.

The connection is maintained between client and server only for the immediate request, and the connection is closed.

After the HTTP client establishes a TCP connection with the server and sends it a request command, the server sends back its response and closes the connection.

HTTP does not need to use TCP/IP or its supporting layers; it only presumes a reliable transport. It can be implemented on top of any other protocol on the Internet, or on other networks.

For these reasons the ECSP_HTTP can be a useful solution for specific, time-limited, communication and interrogation of a remote device.
